A large manufacturing company’s Shipping department was handling the shipping process by using multiple Excel sheets and also the outscanning of product shipment sometimes were not done properly and wrong products or quantity of products were sent to customers. There was a major possibility of human errors in this process. Hence they have decided to automate this process.
We have created an Outbound web tool which resides on an internal server and all users (planner, Shipper, accountant) will have access to this tool so they can maintain the Shipping Request (SR), Delivery Note (DN) and Invoices on this tool. This made Shippers life easy to generate and share the InTransit report as per clients need. At every stage we have provided verification of data to avoid wrong data. Shippers now have the facility to upload MES dump on the tool for providing data for outscanning verification.
We have also created an Android application for out-scanning of the products by barcode scanner which was generated through our system. This allows shippers to scan barcodes present on (SR, Trailer, Pallet, Box) and validate if they are of the same SR with given quantity.
The system is built on the .NET stack using ASP.NET, SQL Server & MVC architecture. The mobile app is developed using Native Android.
